Leukaemia Research Fund

1227829705_ian_bothamWhen Worcestershire County Cricket club were looking for a new physiotherapist in 1988 they approached Dave Roberts.

The club had signed Ian Botham from Somerset the previous season, but he had been forced to undergo Spinal Surgery….and they needed someone who could “handle” Beefy and get him back on the field.

To cut a long story short, the two hit if off immediately and even ended up sharing a house together!  It worked though and Botham played for Worcestershire and England again the following season.

Beefys 25th walk logoBeefy “recruited” Roberts (or “Rooster” as he is known) to join him on his East Coast walk the same year to help look after him and raise funds and awareness for Leukaemia Research. – and Roberts has been by Beefy’s side on all of his walks ever since.

It is Botham’s 25th Anniversary Walk in April 2010.  Find out how you can help….or even walk with Beefy….visit www.beefy25.com
